What have people been saying about She Rock?

"Thank you for She Rock! Without this organization I never would have had found my new band or would have known the experience of playing with a band in such a supportive and encouraging environment!  You truly rock!!"
Jane J.~ Ladies Rock Camper

"I wish I could express the depth of my gratitude to you and everyone else involved with GRRR. It was my privilege to help in whatever small way I could. Participating this past week with GRRR helped keep the bond between my daughter and I strong. We talked on the way to and from daily sessions about various subjects from your curriculum. We talked about marketing, body image, she told me about her staging concepts. We want to say Thank You!, you are all tremendous role models. You do all this work and still keep smiling. We are touched that Melissa was invited to help out next year.  She wants to do this. Gratefully Yours,"

"I just wanted to thank you again for all your hard work and dedication to make the girls rock & roll retreat such a great success. The impact on Sydney and Allison is beyond what Brian and I would've imagined. Sydney has been writing songs (2 over the weekend) and wants to start guitar lesson's again. Allie is considering joining the Burroughs band to play percussion and wants to take bass guitar lessons. The camp has truly motivated and inspired them both. We look forward to future participation."

"Thanks for the great camp experience for Rebekah, you all gave these girls a wonderful gift. We can not wait for next year!!"

"GRRR is a rock-n-roll camp, but I think even more valuable for my two daughters was the increased confidence and a real feeling of empowerment they left with. I recommend it to all my friends with daughters. Learning to work within a group, advocate for your ideas and create with others are invaluable life skills. I truly believe these girls will be ahead in life because of these experiences!"

"Thanks for making GRRR Camp amazing! I had so much fun getting to know girls who rock, and expanding my music knowledge! I am definitely sticking with the drums! In fact, I am going to play them in High School this year! I had a lot of fun, and I am looking forward to attending GRRR Camp next Summer! It would be really fun if it was an over-night camp! ;) Thanks again! I had a blast!!"

"GRRR is like a second home to me.  It always cheers me up when I'm down, and it makes me feel beautiful inside and out."

"I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for making the week of GRRR an amazing week for my daughter, Lexi!   When Angela from Virtuosos Music Academy approached me and told me about your camp I was excited that Lexi could focus on her singing, but more than anything, I was hopeful about Lexi improving her self esteem. Lexi has had esteem issues regarding her weight and her dad not being a constant part of her life. She also struggles with a learning disability and is beginning to recognize that she doesn't always fit in.  When Lexi started private singing lessons in December she would only sing in front of me and her teacher. When she had her first concert a few months ago, she had a hard time "singing it out" with confidence and her body language was very closed. We wrote notes all over her lyrics to remind her to look up and smile!!  Her voice was beautiful but the confidence wasn't there yet.  The Lexi I saw singing on Friday was a completely different girl!! She looked up, she smiled, she sang it out...I was so proud and impressed!  I'm so grateful that Lexi had the opportunity to attend GRR this year! Thank you for all that you do!"

"I want to thank you for introducing me to the bass. When I first came to GRRR I was set to play guitar, but you encouraged me to pick up a bass, as my band had two guitarists besides myself. That was four years ago and I've loved it ever since. I'll be a freshman at Main Street School of Performing Arts on Tuesday, with my majors being theater, and instrumental. I will be getting endorsements for playing bass, and doing theater. I probably wouldn't have tried to pick up an instrument ever again if you hadn't introduced me to my instrument. Everyone at GRRR has been extremely supportive and encouraging over the years I've gone. Girls Rock and Roll Retreat has given me a lifelong love and passion for music and bass. I never would have thought to pick up a new instrument before coming to camp. I truly feel at home and part of a community when I'm there. I wouldn't have gotten to where I am today without you and all the wonderful ladies who are a part of GRRR. I have you all to thank for getting me to where I am. I'm excited to start playing bass on a daily basis. Thank you so much for everything you've done. It truly has changed my life. I'm becoming a better person because of it! We all appreciate you and what you do so very much.  And thank you to all the teachers and counselors who have helped me as well."

"I wanted to take a moment and let you know how much our girls enjoyed their GRRR experience.  Both Katherine and Lizzy came home from camp playing  new tunes, sharing empowering stories and a deeper sense of what it means to make and promote music.  Katherine has been playing the "Got No Apologies" anthem and talking about the great songs her group produced.  In fact, she wore her band shirt to her summer program yesterday, excited to talk with her friends about the awesome experience she had with you all.  As we were driving home Friday night, Lizzy turned and said to me "Mom, do they have space next session?  I want to go back!"  That's the hallmark of a fabulous program.  I'd like to commend you and the staff for creating such a wonderful retreat for young women.  I'm thrilled that young women can get the important message that they are valuable and worthy, regardless of whether they choose to conform to societal norms and expectations.  Bravo!"
